New Discoveries

I’ve lived on the Central Coast of California for almost 30 years and there are still places that I have yet to discover. I guess that’s how it is when you live in a place where tourists come! Within the last six months I’ve been to three places that I’d never been to before. I finally made it to the Monarch Grove in Pismo Beach where the migrating monarchs visit each year and visited Mission San Miguel just a few miles north of us. This weekend I discovered a swimming hole just a few miles south of us that I’ve passed by lots of times but didn’t have a clue existed.
Does anyone have any suggestions of other places to see on the Central Coast that I might have missed?
I am so excited and motivated to keep on discovering this wonderful place we call home, with my camera close by of course!

Huntington Beach Maternity Photo Shoot

My husband’s sister is having a baby!!  We drove down to Huntington Beach last week on the way to Las Vegas for WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) convention.  Rain was in the forecast all week but our drive down to Southern California was pretty promising…overcast, a photographer’s dream!   When we arrived in Huntington Beach the weather was still great for photographing.  But by the time we made it down to the beach it was raining and really windy.  Instead of a shoot at sunset under the Huntington Beach pier we found refuge from the wind and rain in a local hotel lobby.  After some nice indoor photos we went back to the pier to see if it was possible to squeeze in a few shots without getting soaked or blown down the beach.  We managed to get a few nice shots under the pier with some cover from the wind and rain.  If the weather had been nice it would have been a lot more difficult to get a shot without a million strangers wandering around on the beach.  Thank God for “bad” weather!
